Whilst researching Frida Kahlo and the history of Mexican art, I became sidetracked by Aztec symbolism. Enamoured by the hardcore sense of self Aztec warriors embodied (albeit bloody, human-sacrificing and, let’s face it, downright terrifying), I was compelled to create my own:
